Pauldrons

Pauldron is part of plate armor, and it evolved from spauldron in the 15th century. Pauldrons are used to cover the shoulder area and are larger than the spauldrons. It conveniently covers the armpit and sometimes even the chest and the back. Usually the left pauldron is fixed with rivets, a separable shoulder piece of the medieval armor.
