This replica 15th Century lochaber axe is hand forged from high carbon steel and features a massive 16.25-inch blade that affixes to your choice of wooden shaft using two thick sockets located on the blade’s spine. The end of the curved blade cuts into a broad point, and a 4 ½ -inch long hook or cleek is attached to the top socket of the spine that was historically used to dismount horse riders. This piece has a gleaming polish finish and has a cross-emblem cut out of the middle for weight reduction and added detail. This replica is quite hefty, weighing in at about 4 pounds, so it is recommended to use a strong wood for the shaft. Though this lochaber would make a great display for your wall, it is completely functional and ready to be the star of your next reenactment. Overall Length: 19.75 Inches, Blade Length: 16.25 Inches
*Please note: A mounting shaft is NOT INCLUDED, but can be purchased at most any local hardware store.
