In order to become one of the highest-ranking demon slayers, known as the Nine Hashira, you must first prove your worthiness. That kind of training and dedication could not be achieved without the assistance of a reliable Nichirin, which are specialized weapons used along with an elemental combat style to slay demons. Giyu Tomioka is the current Water Hashira, and carries a standard Nichirin katana that he uses along with his water breathing combat style to take down high-ranked demons with little effort.
This full-size replica may be made of foam, but it is certainly no children’s toy. This Nichirin sword is composed of polyurethane foam and features a 10 mm fiberglass core. Polyurethane foam is both durable and flexible, and the added fiberglass core creates a strong sword that can be used for cosplay as well as kicking bad guy butt in mock battle. The base of the blade is a matte black and has a straight silver Hamon. Hand painted onto the left cheek of the blade just below the guard are the Kanji for “Destroy Demons” (惡あっ鬼き滅めっ殺さつ Akki Messatsu). The handle is molded to resemble a traditional Japanese wrapping in white cloth, with an underlayer of vibrant blue peeking through below. A burgundy-colored pommel tops the handle, and a burgundy and bronze hexagonal-shaped hand guard comes detached for easy assembly. A mock habaki and fuchi separates the blade from the handle, with a ridge in between the two to nest the hand guard. Included with your purchase is a shiny black hard plastic scabbard with a burgundy koiguchi.
